New construction of the Jelgava Spīdola State Gymnasium library, reconstruction of the sports stadium and improvement of the territory

Livland Group has completed the development of the construction project for the new construction of the Spīdola State Gymnasium library building and the reconstruction of the stadium, as well as for the improvement of the surrounding area. The development of the construction project began last year, and the project was developed according to the highest standards of sustainability, functionality and energy efficiency, maintaining harmony with the urban environment. The project includes a modern extension of the library building to the school on two floors with ergonomic planning and environmental accessibility, which will ensure convenient and efficient organization of studies and events. The building will meet near-zero energy consumption standards, using electricity produced by solar panels and ventilation systems with recuperation. On the other hand, as a result of the reconstruction of the school stadium, a multifunctional sports area with modern equipment and amenities will be obtained: running tracks, a long jump sector, for the implementation of NATO obstacle course defense training in the school, mini football, basketball and beach volleyball fields. Also, the stadium will have open stands and a canopy, but the reduction of noise propagation will be solved by using greenery and greenery. We planned to divide the improvement of the territory into three functional zones: the representative zone, the zone of sports activities and the economic zone with easy-to-maintain cobblestone paths. Bicycle spaces, pedestrian and transport access roads, greenery and recreation areas will also be created near the school. The new library building combines several building functions: a school library, a gymnasium and an event space that can also be adapted for outdoor events. It is designed in two floors, connected to the existing gymnasium building at the level of the first and second floors. The basic level of the library will be lowered by 0.2 m in relation to the ground level, which will not only give expressiveness to the architectural solution, but also improve the visibility of public events and create additional scenic dynamics. Sustainable and durable materials are intended for the construction of the building, while easy-to-maintain and durable solutions are chosen for the interior decoration. The construction project foresees the selection of high-quality materials and innovative solutions that will guarantee the building’s sustainability and easy maintenance.
By implementing this project, the learning environment in the Spīdola State Gymnasium will be significantly improved by acquiring a modern library building and a sports field.
